SWITCHED ON ABOYNE
Lighting up Aboyne for the festive season!
Switched On Aboyne is a group of volunteers who, with the support of the people and businesses of Aboyne and Deeside, provide the much loved festive lighting for the village of Aboyne.

A NEW CO-ORDINATOR IS URGENTLY NEEDED TO ENSURE THAT ABOYNE HAS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN 2024 - IF NO-ONE VOLUNTEERS THERE WILL BE NO LIGHTS!
IF YOU ARE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN, PLEASE CONSIDER WHETHER YOU CAN HELP PROVIDE THIS VALUABLE COMMUNITY SERVICE
Considerable effort is undertaken at no charge by our local tradesmen who are most generous in giving their time.

Aberdeenshire Council provides the power to the lights and makes available top up grants to contribute towards new lighting.
Since Switched On Aboyne's initial formation in 2009, with the help of grants from Aberdeenshire Council, the old illuminations have been replaced and are being upgraded to low energy, modern LED lights. The low energy LED lights consume up to 80% less energy than the old incandescent lamps but they do cost considerably more. All this and the ongoing maintenance of the existing infrastructure clearly has a cost for which Switched On Aboyne actively seeks support and funding.
Re-lamping, maintenance and repairs cost around £600 per year. Donations from individuals and businesses are most welcome to cover this expense.
I'D LIKE TO HELP WITH SWITCHED ON ABOYNE!
If you can offer your time to help with the festive lights in Aboyne, or can offer support with the costs of repairing, maintaining and investing in new lighting apparatus, please let us know using this form or email switchedonaboyne@gmail.com. Thank you.
